The Cardinal Health Distribution Center redevelopment in Detroit, an AKT Peerless project, was recognized yesterday with both the prestigious Grand Prize Award and the People’s Choice Award at the 2015 Brownfields Conference in Chicago.

Each of the regional Phoenix Award winners representing the ten regions of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) competed for both the National Grand Prize and People’s Choice Awards. The Grand Prize Award is judged by a panel of industry experts and awarded to the brownfield project determined to be Best of Show, while the People’s Choice Award is presented to the Phoenix Award winning brownfield project that receives the greatest number of votes cast during the 2015 Brownfields Conference.

“We are overwhelmed by the level of national recognition this project is receiving,” said Anthony Kashat, Co-Founder & Principal of AKT Peerless.

The Cardinal Health Distribution Center project has already been recognized with the National Redevelopment & Renewal Environmental Impact Award and the Phoenix Award for USEPA Region 5 (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin & Minnesota). The Renewal Award was judged by 29 industry experts who evaluated over 80 nominated projects from across the county. The Phoenix Award is overseen by a non-profit organization and selected by a panel of national experts.

“It’s a proud day for AKT Peerless and the entire redevelopment team,” added Kashat. “We hope this will serve as yet another catalyst in the exciting resurgence we’re seeing in the City of Detroit.”

The Cardinal Health Medical Distribution Center is located at 6000 Rosa Parks Boulevard in Detroit. For more information about this project and the awards, visit the following links:
