Tony Anthony, Principal & Founding Partner of AKT Peerless, has been appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to Michigan’s new Environmental Permit Review Commission (EPRC).
The EPRC was created with the passage of Michigan Senate Bill 653, which was enacted into law with Governor Snyder’s signature in June of 2018, thereby creating Public Act 268 of 2018. Established as a part of a larger package of legislation designed to enhance the transparency and oversight of decision-making processes governing environmental quality for the State, the EPRC will operate within the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to advise the Director on disputes related to permits and permit applications.
The 15-member commission provides an independent body of experts that will help ensure new environmental processes meet the highest levels of quality and safety standards for the State. Members of the EPRC are required to have the equivalent of six years of full-time, relevant experience as a practicing engineer, geologist, hydrologist, or hydrogeologist or have a master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a discipline of engineering or science related to air or water and have the equivalent of eight years of full-time relevant experience.
“I’m honored at the opportunity to serve the State of Michigan by applying my technical knowledge in such an advisory capacity,” said Tony Anthony, “and I’m equally excited about pioneering and teaming with such a distinguished group of peers as a member of this commission.”
Tony’s appointment to this new commission is in recognition of his significant knowledge of hydrogeology and his decades of experience working as an environmental consultant on a wide array of remedial investigations and mitigation.
